[September 28, 2007/ Manila] – The Smart Schools Program of Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART) was one of the education initiatives highlighted during the recent Asia Policy Forum on ICT Integration into Education. 
Through the Smart Schools Program, Smart is working with public school teachers nationwide in promoting ICT in education by providing them broadband Internet connectivity and access to online content and training.

Akhtar Siddiqui of India during the forum.  The Asia Policy Forum is organized by World Links, an international NGO whose Philippines program is managed by the Foundation for Information Technology Education and Development, and is jointly funded by the World Bank-administered Japan Social Development Fund and by Intel.

 

Participants include Ministry of Education representatives from Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Malaysia, People’s Republic of China, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Cambodia, India, Sri Lanka, Korea, and the Philippines; international ICT for education experts; corporations and corporate foundations active in the field of ICT for education and international and local education and technology nongovernment organizations
