NCTE had undertaken a major exercise of developing a new curriculum framework for teacher education which is both contextual and in tune with the emerging concerns and imperatives of the fast changing scenario of education, both nationally and globally. It firmly believes in the symbiotic relationship between teacher education and school education. Improvements in both the sectors of education have a bearing on the entire spectrum of education. The curriculum framework has identified different curricular areas to be essentially included in all teacher education programmes. A special emphasis has been laid on curriculum transaction wherein development of student-teacher’s language competence and communication skills have been accorded a high priority specially keeping in view a wide variety of schools existing in the country in terms of language proficiency of the teachers working in them.
